Who We Are

Dingle Accommodation (dingleaccommodation.ie) is an independent directory operated by Joe Begley, covering two properties on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry, Ireland: Stay Dingle Way (self-catering holiday homes) and The Hawthorn Rooms (boutique rooms). Joe is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

What Data We Collect

We collect personal data in two ways:

Information you provide — when you submit our contact form:

• Name and email address
• Your message and enquiry details (dates, party size, property preference)
• Enquiry type (booking, prices, question, Dingle Way walk)

Information collected automatically — when you browse our website:

• Pages visited and time spent on site
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
• Referring website

Browsing data is collected anonymously via Google Analytics 4 and does not identify you personally. Analytics cookies are only placed after you accept cookies.

If you click through to book via GuestDiary, any data you provide during the booking process is handled by GuestDiary under their own privacy policy — we do not receive or store payment details.

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data only for the following purposes:

• To respond to enquiries you submit via the contact form
• To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it
• To protect the contact form from spam (Google reCAPTCHA)

We will never use your data for unsolicited marketing, and we will never sell or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your data on the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interest — to respond to direct enquiries you initiate via our contact form, email, or phone
• Consent — to load Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our site (only after you accept cookies)
• Legitimate interest — to protect our contact form from spam using Google reCAPTCHA

How Long We Keep Your Data

Enquiry correspondence received by email is retained for up to 2 years, after which it is deleted. If a booking results from an enquiry, records may be kept for up to 7 years for accounting and legal compliance purposes.

Anonymous analytics data held by Google Analytics is retained for 14 months by default.

Third Parties

We use a small number of trusted third-party services:

• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous website traffic analysis. Data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
• Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise — spam protection on our contact form. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• GuestDiary — our booking engine (bookingengine.myguestdiary.com). When you click to book, you are redirected to GuestDiary's secure platform. Any data you enter there is processed by GuestDiary under their own privacy policy.
• Hosting provider — our website is hosted on Microsoft Azure (Dublin). Your IP address may be recorded in server access logs for security purposes.

We do not use social media tracking pixels, advertising networks, or any other third-party data collection tools.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
• Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
• Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
